Good Goals
Since school has started for my kids, and I’m not teaching this year, I’ve been on a little organizing rampage. It’s not unusual for me to come across old notes and to-do lists that somehow didn’t get thrown in the recycle bin. They are interesting to look through just to reflect on where I was last week or some recent past that has slipped from my memory because of busy days.
This week, I came across a list of goals from about 2.5 years ago. They were big goals, so I know why I tucked this list away. But goals don’t just come true because you made a list, so I read the list with some trepidation…how well did I do with my list? (or how good a list did I make?)
The good news is, I’ve hit some of the big ticket items on that list…I have an agent, a book deal, and more manuscripts, just like I’d wanted.
The other news is, I’ve still got lots to do.
I guess it’s good to dream big, but I’d like to find that list in another 2.5 years and be able to say, I’ve polished those chapter books and middle grades, that I’m mentoring other writers, and writing full-time. Guess I better get on it!
